My name is Chris Hooks and I am a broadcast professional.

I've been the play-by-play voice of North Carolina Central University since Dec. 30, 2007. My versatility and experience has given me the ability to handle any and all situations in not only the broadcast world, but in other areas of the athletics department.

 

Since I joined NCCU in 2008, I've acquired a greater understanding of what it truly means to be the "Voice" of a college/university and I take that title with great pride. To get e-mails from parents who listen to hear their son/daughter get to score the game-winning basket or a fan that lives and dies through the place where you are working. It certainly makes you see how important it is that you do a good job.

 

Seeing the young men and women grow during their college career like I did, to see them work so hard on the field and on the court.  To see them succeed and for me to be there during some of their biggest moments during the greatest time of their lives.  Experiencing that is worth going through whatever else comes along.  Here's to many more years of fun while getting to live out my dream.
